This is a well-written episode by SJC and I think it shows with the way the students are bonding to Ralph...especially Tony when they are out walking around.
Pam and Rhonda have a great scene talking about how everyone likes people for different reasons...that looks are not what makes a person attractive, etc. It is a great scene and I was sorry not to see more of a friendship develop between Rhonda and Pam like they tried to portray between Ralph and Tony. I think it would have added volumes to the show.
Again, though, Pam did very little. She slowed down the bad guys so Ralph could catch them, but then got caught herself. Then, when she is free and the helicopter tries to nab Theresa, Pam jumps in to fight him off and gets taken AGAIN! At least both of THOSE times, she was working her keyster off to save someone's life...so I am not as disappointed, but this did become a habit in the series.
I do like how Pam helps Ralph stick to his guns. I think Ralph would cave in to Bill a lot like we see other times if not for Pam. With her back-up and determination in this trio, she helps keep him solid and running on his own. She helps Ralph identify this middle ground of Bill's ideas vs. Ralph's ideas for the suit and it shows a lot starting in this episode.

I do enjoy what participation Pam has in this episode. She gets a lot of face time, and even if she wasn't central to actually saving Sergei and Theresa, she did serve a purpose: to function in the search, and to be some kind of mentor to Rhonda. ("What does Mr. H SEE in you?") LOL!

I like it too because we see the first instance of Pam and Ralph versus Bill which would be a MAJOR element in FIRE MAN.
