Josie, I know I am early, but I wanted to make sure you got it before your birthday rather than after. Hope you enjoy it. [ ] Ralph: Bill, are you okay? Bill: Kids, you see that dame over there? Pam: Yeah...why? Bill: I'm gonna marry that girl someday. [ ] Pam: Bill, this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You can't ask a woman out on a date and shove a marriage contract in her face. Bill: But... Ralph: Why not? Pam: YOU shut up. *HOURS LATER*[ ] Bill (off-pic): Counselor, what am I gonna do? I need her...I want her. Pam: Maybe you should just be a man and ask her to a party or something. Bill (off-pic): Any suggestions? Pam: One. *SEPTEMBER 25TH*[ ] Bill: I can't believe I let you talk me into this! I look stupid. Pam: I did some research on Josie. She loves pirates...and their booty. Bill: I hope you're right, Counselor. [ ] Ralph: It looks like the date is going well. Pam: I am the one who planned it...of course it went well. [ ] Pam: And there they go. I hope Bill has swabbed a poop deck like hers before. [ ] Bill: Well, Josie, I had a great time. Would you like to come inside for a bit? I left your present up there for you to unwrap? *THE NEXT MORNING*[ ] Josie (off-pic): Good morning! Bill: Will you can it with that drivel? You and I were up all night riding out that...uh...typhoon. How can you be so chipper? Josie (off-pic): I have a great captain. Happy Birthday, Josie!!!!!!!!!! Hope your birthday is everything you are hoping for...after all, a girl as cute as you deserves it, right? [ ] Josie: I couldn't have said it better myself. Rooowwwwrrr.

OK, here's a story I wrote for Jo. For those wondering, it's based on another story I wrote: Showdown at the Crooked M.
****************************
Noises, chatter, confusion ensued all around as Bill fell to the ground. He saw someone come up to him as darkness descended. ...
----------------------------
Bill heard a voice seep into his mind as he slowly came around. He could also smell perfume, food that was similar to the restaurant, and whiskey.
He opened his eyes and found he was in a living room dressed in late 1800s decor. "How did I..." he said but to pause when he saw movement.
Turning, he saw a woman place a damp cloth on his head. "Bill, you feelin' all right?" said the woman. He remembered this dame, especially with her slightly revealing, yet still modest, scarlet red saloon girl outfit.
"Uh, yeah, Josie. Don't tell me..."
"Yeah, got pistol whipped again saving my life from that drunkard," said Josie. "Ralph brought you here, but when we found out I didn't have any supplies to bandage your head, I told him to go to the mercantile for them. Have to admit, I didn't want this for my birthday."
Bill nodded softly. "So... did we get the drunkard?"
"Yeah, he's in the jail now for assaulting a special agent," she said, her voice slowly becoming more like honey. "Personally, I think he should get in trouble for harming someone I care for a lot."
Bill blushed a bit when she stroked his face softly. "Uh, Josie I agree... I, uh haven't be honest with you."
"Oh, please don't tell me you're going to faint again or are about to get sick," she said. "I remember the last time you were here. After the whole bit, I wanted to thank you for capturing that human trade ring, but you were still unconscious from the ether. Took you about half an hour to wake up and then you and Ralph got that note you had to leave immediately for San Francisco."
"Yeah, what happened to that cre... uh, unruly gentleman?"
"He woke up and claimed that you flew in a set of red longjohns and opera cape. The sheriff said that he was saying that because of what happened to him. He and his gang are in the federal prison. Locked 'em up and threw away the key. Personally, I still want to slug Mac Bloodstone myself for what he did to ya and Ralph."
"So do I," said Bill, but he looked in Josie's deep eyes and got lost in them. He had the same feeling he did the first time he met her. "Josie, I want to say this... uh... well, I've fallen for you and I wanted to see if, well... since it's your birthday..."
"You could kiss me?" she said with a wink. "Course you can, sugar. I've been wanting too since that case."
"Yeah, me too," said Bill chuckling softly. "And, well... I didn't just want to kiss ya, I wanted to court ya and marry ya..."
"Ah, well, first thing I want to do is give you a kiss," she said leaning forward. Bill got ready to kiss her when he smelled a familiar, sharp odor making him dizzy...
-------------------------
"Bill, can you hear me?" said Ralph as he waved a packet of spirits of ammonia under the man's nose. Bill had fainted about a minute earlier in the restaurant he was eating in with Ralph and Pam. While the two suggested Bill refuse the dinner, as he had been exhausted lately from too many scenarios, he came anyway, as it was one of the most popular steakhouses in the city.
"Ralph, is he coming around," asked Pam as Ralph put his coat over the still insensible man.
"I think so, but given how tired he's been lately, I'm not surprised this happened." said Ralph as he heard a groan. "Bill, come on partner wake up."
Bill stirred and opened his eyes. "Come on kid leave me alone with Josie huh?" said the man, trying to close his eyes.
"Sorry, can't do that," said Ralph, shaking Bill's shoulder. "You just passed out in the restaurant, and unless you want to go to the hospital, you'd better stay awake."
The agent groaned but, realizing the alternative if he went back to sleep, did as he was told. Sure enough, he was in restaurant.
"Damn... it had to be a dream again, huh?" said the agent. "I almost got my wish in the dream, and before you ask kid, it wasn't quite the same one I had about the west. Not that I want to wear that outfit again."
Ralph and Pam smiled and shrugged their shoulders in sympathy, but didn't say anything else. Both knew this was Bill's way of trying to make light of the situation.
Just then, the hostess rushed up to the trio with a damp cloth. "Here's the washcloth for your friend. The paramedics are on their way to the restaurant," she said glancing down at Bill, smiling. "Ah, you're awake. Don't try to get up, because we don't need you to faint on us again."
Bill paled slightly, causing the other three to frown. "Bill, you all right?" said Ralph, hoping Bill wasn't going to throw up.
"No, I'm fine," said Bill as he continued to look at the woman. She was wearing a low-cut but modest scarlet red saloon gal outfit, as it was her work attire at the restaurant. "Uh, ma'am what's your name?"
"Josie," she said simply.
Bill smiled softly as the paramedics arrived. After being checked out and after Bill refused further treatment, he went back over to Josie. "Can I ask you a question?" he asked and she nodded. "When do you get off work?
"In about an hour... why?"
"Would you ... uh... like to go out for coffee? That is, if you're not dating or..."
The woman smiled. "No, I'm not dating or married. Yes, I'd like that, especially since it's my birthday," she said with a twinkle in her eye... as if she knew he was going to ask that.
