Only part I never get tired of is the conclusion. It's sweet, but shows the character's perfectly as far as their romantic side. They never seemed to mess that up.
Yes, the wedding should've been normal or some plausible reason for it to be shortened (someone pretending to faint, Bill setting off the fire alarm, etc.)

Okay...now that I am on the mend and working towards being well again, I thought I would continue with my episode intensive critiques. First, Pam is portrayed as one of those stereotypical brides where she is having this huge wedding and the mom is really controlling it. Pam seems to be more worried about the wedding than having to worry about Ralph and Bill out there causing trouble. One redeeming quality is that Pam tries to tell her mother that Ralph should be in on the decisions too, which I agree with. I don't think one person should get to ramrod the whole situation...especially if they are not one of the two getting hitched. .
Then, Pam has to try and help Ralph come to terms with how HUGE the wedding is becoming. I know the feeling. I wanted a max of about thirty people...We ended up with about 80 or so more than that. I hate that, but at least I had more than one day to adjust.
I do like how open-minded Pam is about Ralph having a stag party though. I think it works nicely into the trust factor they share, even though the jealousy is more prevalent once they both find out about the special guests brought into party. (Pam must get the jealousy from her mother). Pam even HELPED Bill get Ralph out of the house to go to the stag party. .
I think the best scene has to do with the bachelorette party and some of the aftermath. This episode really helps define Pam as funny and shows Connie's ability to do comedy. I also liked the bachelorette party because we see that Pam has friends. We usually only see with her with Ralph and Bill or some work associate, but this episode shows that she has friends and other interests as well, which is nice.
I have to say that Ralph would have been one lucky son of a gun had he seen Pam in that outfit she put in the bag. I think we should have gotten to see her in it at the end...covering her sleeping husband up or something...knowing it was wasted on such a goober. [Why did Pam stay at Ralph's house? Why not have the bachelorette party at hers and be there? And even more amazing, Ralph KNEW she was there when he called. Pretty risque for back then don't you think? ]
We hear Pam call Bill "Maxwell!" which is something we don't hear a lot. She usually calls him Bill, but when she is mad she switches to his last name like he does with her some of the time instead of calling her "Counselor." I thought it was a neat sidepoint.
The wedding scene was pretty funny, both with Ralph and Pam trying to hide from each other and in the actual ceremony itself. I think it would have been nice to have one normal thing, like a real ceremony, but it worked fine and was funny. [Of course, a real wedding implies that Ralph would have more people and that Pam would have closer to the 200 invited...since that many did not appear to be in that church.] I HATE how Bill and Ralph were going to leave after being announced, but Pam fixed that by grabbing Ralph and showing him who was REALLY the boss. [Too bad it wasn't me...but that is neither here nor there. ] After all, how could he NOT want to kiss her? She looked very pretty in her dress and it was definitely a different look...Bill didn't even recognize her.
I like the closing scene as well, but for the reason that it shows how committed Pam is to the relationship...not only of her and Ralph, but also with the suit since that is what almost wrecked them. Poor girl...I can't believe he fell asleep with HER pouring out her love for him! What a jerk...she needs someone with a more tender touch.
Overall, not one of my favorite episodes, although it had a lot of potential...more so for Pam than anyone as we noted due to her comedy and such. I think it would have been better as a two-parter so that the audience could see them going through the motions of getting married and have the whole Matthew Powers thing be more detailed. But, I wasn't in charge of that decision.
