Roughly each week, Miss D or myself will post a new topic for debate and we will try to encourage you all to post often. After all, the more people involved, the more information to be had. So has it been another week yet? I'm not complaining too much. I'm just happy that as of today, the front page no longer has the following: It has been, but I was hoping that more people would chime in on this one. Plus, Miss D has been busy and I did not want to monopolize that part of the forum if she wanted to list some topics. Don't worry: More topics will be added, but we want good debatable topics and not just the run of the mill things. Glad to know that you are keeping track with what's going on though...even though your LOW post count doesn't show it sometimes.

OK, how about debating silly stuff like hot dogs not being the same number in packages as buns and why? Or why people have to look at the camera even when you tell them not to?

OK, how about debating silly stuff like hot dogs not being the same number in packages as buns and why? Or why people have to look at the camera even when you tell them not to? It is because of suggestions JUST LIKE THIS why the debate forum is not open for everyone to create debates. While we might have a debate of the more enjoyable and less serious topic at times, we are trying to keep them more serious for now...more in line with things Pam might be apt to handle...more so than hot dogs and buns.

It's a joke, HD... in my usual crazy and silly literal way. I'd much rather debate more serious topics and such, given the state of the nation at times. Just today I had a blonde moment: I was driving around town and noticed some flags were at half-staff. I kept wondering who died... and remembered this was the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. 65 years... man, I can't believe I forgot that part of my history lessons. And here I'm trying to find a teacher who taught me history in college so I could say thank you for helping me remember this stuff. But, point is, I like the more serious debates anyway.

True... At least I haven't been able to develop my pics yet from Six Flags, or then the feathers would fly (jokingly).

If it makes anyone feel better, a new holiday-oriented debate is up and probably will be through the end of this year. {Just thought I would mention this NOW, so people knew time would be taken off for the holiday season. } Again, if you have ideas for the debate section, you can list them here or PM Miss D or myself...and we will consider the suggestions.

Currently, the Council Chambers section is open for business by members, but the current thread about the debate of "church vs. state" will probably stay up for a while so that members can come back during the spring and such and hopefully get involved again. I don't want so many debates that they feel overwhelmed. Hopefully some more of you will get involved in the meantime and make it that much more enjoyable for everyone when more members return. I just wanted to keep you all updated as to WHY the topics are not changing that rapidly.

What about a debate about the current global economic crisis? Or is that too political for this site?

It is not too political depending on how it is set up. What particular aspect did you want to debate?

HD: I was just thinking in general terms. Any aspect is fair game, I think?

Okay. If you have an idea about it or how you want to set up the debate, PM me and I will look at it and post it.

We can still do debates too. I know some of the members are probably rusty, but what better way to get back to form than by practicing?

That sounds intriguing. How would we go about doing that? Do you mean only discussing a topic, or to do it as a courtroom drama (objection, your honor!!"
